In Windows Dead?

A blog dedicated to small business startups, technology trends, online marketing, and consumer observation and opinion. This post was written on April 14th, 2008 in category: Website Design. These are the sole opinion of Blake Newman, an independent blogger.

Two Gartner analysts made a stir when they presented a report called “Windows Is Collapsing: How What Comes Next Will Improve.” The crux of their work focused on Windows inability to innovate, especially compared to Apple and other software developers. While it’s unlikely that Windows will disappear in the near future, their work is important in reminding us that we have to always be ready for the next big thing.

Sure, your website works with Internet Explorer, but how does it look in Firefox, Safari, Opera, or some of the other internet browsers? Gone are the days when you can simply assume that everyone is using the same OS and software pack! You need to have your site accessible to a wide number of visitors, from all types of bandwith and computing speed.

This is especially important for people who want to appeal to technophiles and early adopters. These are the people most likely to be using alternate methods to access your website (including the iphone, blackberries, or different browsers). If your website doesn’t work with the latest and greatest developments you’ll be missing out and this exciting customer base.

Does your website work with the newest web browsers and tools? The time to make your site and business ready for the next big thing is now, and that is what inqbation can help you with.
