It’s easy to get carried away with looks when you’re designing a new website, but any experienced web designer knows that gorgeous is just not enough. The thing is that a pleasing look doesn’t count for much if your website is not designed with usability in mind.
Designing a great website is all about creating a pleasant and rewarding experience for your visitors. Just like you probably won’t return to a supermarket where all the products you need are hidden behind other things, people won’t come back to your website unless you make it easy for them to find the information they are looking for and get what they want done.
There are lots of things that you need to take into account to achieve this, starting from a well-organized structure for your web pages, to possibly implementing efficient and easy-to-use search facilities that allow your visitors to find things within your own website. Even something as apparently mundane as the naming and positioning of links to different parts of your website can have a huge impact on how easy it is to navigate.
Another fundamental thing to remember is that your website has to be very good at converting visitors to clients if it is to be successful. As you’ll surely agree, there is no point in having hundreds or thousands of visitors to your website every day if they are not becoming clients. And it is the up to your web designer to make sure that your website has what it takes to get people to make that crucial leap. Once again, there is a lot that can be done to improve your site’s conversion rate, and a lot of it has to do with creating the right look and feel and guiding visitors down the path to the sale as your website makes the case for your products or services.
Still, the biggest secret to achieving the most conversions out of your website is to test different elements against each other. How else will you know if ‘call to action A’ will perform better than ‘call to action B’, or if ‘image A’ will get more people to click the ‘Buy’ button than ‘image B’?
And don’t forget that apart from all this, your website must be quick to load or else people will just give up and go away before they even get a chance to see it!

Coming up with a constant stream of ideas for blog posts can be hard work. So, what do you do when you get the inevitable bout of blogger’s block? That has to be one of the most common questions asked by novice and seasoned bloggers alike. The reality is that even the most experienced blogger is not immune to having to spend time struggling to find a topic to blog about during a dry spell.
The good news is that there is an easy solution - recycle an old idea.
Just because you already blogged about something, it doesn’t mean you cannot ever write about it again. The very nature of a blog is that older posts tend to get buried at the bottom of the pile, and there will surely be a good few of them that are important enough to warrant a new lease of life. Also, because repetition is often the only way to get your message across properly, even the ‘old timers’ among your readers will benefit when you revisit an old topic.
Of course, recycling ideas for your blog is not simply about doing a plain rewrite of an old post. Rather, you could write about the same topic from a different angle, or summarize the gist of what you had written and expand on key points. Alternatively, you can discuss new experiences and insights you may have that add to what you have written before, or even take a point you barely touched upon in an old blog post and use it as a topic in its own right.
As always, it is also a good idea to keep your eyes open for current trends on old topics, and also to keep up with what other bloggers are saying about the topics you write about. This way, you can discuss other people’s opinions in your own blog, and even let your readers know about the latest developments.
And of course, don’t forget to link back to your old posts so that new readers can find them and enjoy them afresh.

inQbation™ is thrilled to announce the launch of Wayne Wilson’s new website.

www.waynelwilson.net
Wayne commissioned inQbation™ to take his previous website to a new level. Our goal was to shift the focus from Wayne’s books to Wayne. We wanted to establish Wayne Wilson as a brand and a multi-talented author and writer.
Working with Wayne was refreshing. He is articulate, organized, quick to provide content, passionate about his work, and positive in his feedback. It was great to work with a true professional and it was our pleasure to build his website. We are very proud of our work and our positive association with Wayne.
We would love to have more clients just like him.

It goes without saying that there is nothing like some stunning photos or images to instantly add a touch of color and interest to your blog. But if you are like the majority of bloggers, you probably don’t use pictures in your posts, either because you don’t know how, or because you think it takes a lot of effort to do so.
Now, if you’re using WordPress as your blogging platform, you’re in luck, thanks to the new PhotoDropper plugin. This plugin allows you to search through Flickr’s immense database of millions of photos that you can use for free, choose an image you like, and add it to your blog post with just one click, all from inside WordPress.
What’s more, you can choose from small, medium and large image sizes, to find the one that best fits the blog template you are using.
And you don’t even need to worry about the legal aspect of using other people’s pictures, because the images that PhotoDropper finds are under the Creative Commons license and available for you to use as long as you credit the author - something that the plugin also does automatically for you by adding the appropriate link. If you have a business blog, you should be aware that many photos on Flickr are not licensed for commercial use, and in this case PhotoDropper has a handy option to only show the ones that are.

So download PhotoDropper for WordPress now and begin to transform your blog posts with some incredible images.
Alternatively, if you are looking for a wide choice of professional photos, you might want to consider using www.istockphoto.com, where web-sized images will cost you around $1 each.
In any case, the quickest and easiest way to use images to add appeal to your writing is the PhotoDropper WordPress plugin. Now, you’ve got absolutely no excuse for that drab-looking blog full of nothing but text!

Two Gartner analysts made a stir when they presented a report called “Windows Is Collapsing: How What Comes Next Will Improve.” The crux of their work focused on Windows inability to innovate, especially compared to Apple and other software developers. While it’s unlikely that Windows will disappear in the near future, their work is important in reminding us that we have to always be ready for the next big thing.
Sure, your website works with Internet Explorer, but how does it look in Firefox, Safari, Opera, or some of the other internet browsers? Gone are the days when you can simply assume that everyone is using the same OS and software pack! You need to have your site accessible to a wide number of visitors, from all types of bandwith and computing speed.
This is especially important for people who want to appeal to technophiles and early adopters. These are the people most likely to be using alternate methods to access your website (including the iphone, blackberries, or different browsers). If your website doesn’t work with the latest and greatest developments you’ll be missing out and this exciting customer base.
Does your website work with the newest web browsers and tools? The time to make your site and business ready for the next big thing is now, and that is what inqbation can help you with.
